Researching this family from Banbridge, Down. My father and grandfather were born there 1880 and 1902 respectively. In 1904 Grandfather took his family to Canada, the States(1918?) and eventually New Zealand(1920?) Grandfather was married to Sara nee Bell and he had three brothers and eight sisters all of whose names etc I have. I would like to track down anyone who may be able to identify my grandfather's paternal grandfather (supposedly named George/Joseph?) but also interested in any other CUPPLES' IP: Logged |

Hullo, we live in Wales. My husband is Roger Cupples. His father is Kenneth Kingsford Cupples, his grandfather is Archibald Cupples. Can you confirm if you are of the same family? I think it is probable that you are, and I have been in touch with other family? in Canada. Apparently Archie was married to Grace, but when the papers from the Canadian Exp Forces were looked at it turns out that his wife was Sarah? Any thoughts on this? Look forward to hearing from you. Very sincere regards, Viv and Roger (Cupples). quote: IP: Logged |

Hi Nicola, I have lots of Cupples ancestors on my paternal grandmothers side, in my family tree on GenesReunited. Traced them back to Down in Ireland on the IGI Files and also ScotlandsPeople site, there are lots of Cupples descended from them; they are in Falkirk,Kilsyth,Grangemouth,Glasgow etc. etc. You can find my tree posted in GenesReunited. search hot matches for Cupples and look for Duncan Mc.Donald as tree owner. I am in the middle of adding loads of Cupples documents contents to the notes for the Cupples section of the tree, verbatim from B.M.D. & some OPR B.& M. Hope this is of interest, will take time to complete this section on the Cupples Family. Can anyone supply the meaning of the Cupples name? Regards, Duncan MacDonald. Hi Duncan, I'd been told by my grandparents and father (now deceased) that there was a Scots link. My people came to NZ from Banbridge, Down via Canada and the States in 1920. I visited Ireland and the UK last year meeting some of the family. I'm told that the name is Huguenot. The nearest I've found is the Cupils who fled to England and were residing in Wandsworth, at one time. Hoping to hear more from you, meanwhile I'll try to find what you mention in your post. regards, Coral CUPPLES IP: Logged |

quote: Hi Nikki, Ihave been trying to locate any information on my grandfather ( Archibald Cupples ). My grandmother's maiden name was ( Grace Hamilton McLean ) born Dalry / Mauchline Scotland 1886. I can find no marriage for them anywhere. Odly enough, Archibald joined the forces just before my mothers birth, he joined up I believe the papers state either Calgary or Edmonton, I don't have the papers at hand. Any information would be greatly Regards Louise Tayler My E-mail ltayler@shaw.ca IP: Logged |
