Hi Harry, my name is Joe Doyle and I live in Poleglass. My Family tree on one side is the Mc Laughlin's. I have got back to the early 1800's. If you are looking for a Mc laughlin connection let me know what details that you have ref the Mc Laughlins.

The Mc Laughlin side of my family moved to the falls about 1875. They lived in No 5 Lady Street for a number of years. Let me know if you think that I can assist you in your quest for information. If your are searching for Kathleen Mc Laughlin look for Cathleen.

Dear Harry

Just saw your query by chance and although I cannot help you with your family tree quest, I thought I'd drop you a quick line. I used to livbe at 42 Merrion Street, with three sisters, Margaret, Joan and Catherine. I recall you lived across the street and, given time, I might even be able to work out your house number. Youo live forever in my memory because of a honey and pepper sandwich you once prepared for me!! No doubt you've forgotten! I also recall that, no matter how many times I raced against you, I always lost. Funny thing is, I cannot remember whether or not you went, like me, to Slater Street School.

Anyway, this was just a prerliminary message. If you'd like to contact me, I can bring you up to date with a potted autobiography, including the honey and pepper sandwich!

Best wishes

You may recognise the signature at the end of this. Saw this note of yours by accident while searching for something else. I remember 42 Merrion St well - and your granny as well as the rest of the clan. Would love to make contact with you sometime. As Paul Simon said, "still crazy after all these years".

Dear Brendan
What a surprise! I checked your profile but it did not give an e-mail address. You can contact me on jim_mcglinchey@hotmail.com - if you wish. I'll be back in UK in about two weeks for the summer break. Hope to hear from you.

Hi Jim. I vaguely remember you and your family. They always seemed posh to me. A middle class air, if you like. As if you didn't belong in Merrion Street! I was right, not many of us became professionals! I remember you had a huge patch on your short trousers and when my pants were holed I wanted a patch just like yours! I now know that only truely classy people can carry off poverty!I lived in No. 39. I am in touch with David McCallum in USA, who left the street to join the RAF. We all fancied his Mam! I was best friends with Paddy Bradley. We left the street around 1955 to go to Andersonstown. I got an apprenticeship in the Irish News, later married and moved to England. I also went to Slate Street but we must have been in different classes - I am 60 in August. I went on a nostalgia trip not so long ago and searched for our school. I went round and round and stopped to collect my thoughts only to find myself parked at the school gates! The multi- storey building is gone and replaced by a very pleasant single storey. The whole area has been revamped and Merrion Street is no more. Check it out on Google Earth. Very happy to hear from you Jim.
Harry McIlmurray
P.S. If we raced together now you would win! I'm 15st., bronchial, and a metal plate in my leg!

Hi Jim - I gave up in my quest when all my entries for descendants were wiped by Sasser and Trojan. To be honest I struggled to even make the entries! However I joined Genes Reunited and am starting again. Happy to send anything but I think you have a different path from me. My Henry and Mary had children James (my dad), Joseph, Molly, and Alphonse. All our Family Tree entries on Genes Reunited can be accessed by anybody, if I've got that right! £10 per year. Jennifer has changed her address.
Harry.

Hi Joe - check out the web for a Sharon Doyle with relations in Co Down, (Bernard). We have been in touch over a time but no help to each other. My grandmother was a McLaughlin from 4 Roden Street which is no more. I know she was married twice and had Charles and Maggie from the first (?) and my mam Kathleen from the second (Charles McLaughlin). I think he was in the Boer War.
I think she came from Ballymacarret. That's it, I'm afraid.

Hi Joe again - My Gran in Roden Street was married to a Billy Grimshaw. Next husband was Thomas McLoughlin. I'm having a bit of trouble with the spelling of McLoughlin/McLaughlin.
For some reason the name McDonald is mixed up in there too. Any assist appreciated. All older members of my family have passed on so no help there.

Hi Harry, I lived in Granville Street for 21 years at number 11 just 4 doors away from the McIlmurrays in 19. I didn't know them well as they pretty much kept themselves to themselves. But do feel free to contact if you'd like to chat.

Hi Ann, Thanks for reply. Tried your web address but page unobtainable. I do have a sister Kathleen. She and her family moved to Australia over 30 years ago (ended up opal mining) and has been back a few times but now retired in Queensland. I dont have a brother but did have a cousin Frankie since died (originally Bingian Drive). Do you have the right family? Happ to chat by E-mail. Slan - Harry
