Excerpts from numerous sites mention the following about the (O) Doran family name:

...and the Dorans are still most numerous in this area today, with the placename ‘DORANSLAND’ in WEXFORD providing EVIDENCE of their long association with the area.

I have searched numerous sites that deal with placenames but have not been able to find any info. I've even contacted companies that make maps and no one seems to know where or even if this place still exists.

Can you help me? Recommend some websites that I may have missed?

Thanks for your time.

I have not found any reference to a townland called Doransland in Co Wexford. I have checked out -of -date townland names and it is not there either. The only reference to Doran in Wexford townland names are Glandoran and Mandoran. I would apprecaite your original spelling of Doransland or where it came from.
regards.
Tom.

I tried the usual maps and townlands listing, etc. - with no luck. So I googled Doransland, and found a Property Agent with a house to sell in Doransland, Kilmuckridge, Co. Wexford. The URL is: http://propertyireland.net/agents.php?agents_id=380

I assume that Doransland is probably an estate or neighborhood name associated with Kilmuckridge itself, as I don't see the name on the Discovery map 69 anywhere close to the town. You might ring-up the property agent and ask them?

Hi Tom
Doransland is just a nickname given to the area as there was quiet alot of Dorans there, the old bridge is also called Doransbridge, the area(townsland) you are looking for is Kiltealy in Wexford, though Kiltealy is not nickednamed doransland, i think it is just a few fields or farms in a certain area of Kiltealy
Hope this helped
Anna

Anna's information sent me to the Discovery map 68, which includes that area. Just a mile NE of Kiltealy village, is Doran's Cross Roads - where the R 702 and R 746 regional roads meet. I don't see a Doran's Bridge there, but there is a New Bridge over the Urrin River, right next to the Cross Roads. And several hundred yards SE along the R 702 is a Sutton's Bridge. In any case, the Cross Roads would seem to locate this area of Dorans.
